Thiksey Monastery

Thiksey Monastery, also spelled as Thiksey Gompa, is one of the most prominent and picturesque monasteries in the Leh Ladakh region of northern India. hiksey Monastery is situated approximately 19 kilometers (12 miles) east of Leh, the capital of Ladakh, in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. It is perched atop a hill and offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape. Thiksey Monastery was founded in the 15th century by Palden Sangpo, who was a disciple of Lama Tsongkhapa, the founder of the Gelugpa school of Tibetan Buddhism. The monastery belongs to the Gelugpa (Yellow Hat) sect of Tibetan Buddhism and is affiliated with the famous Hemis Monastery.
